The Boys Are Back: BTS's Arirang World Tour Is Everything ARMY Dreamed Of

The Boys Are Back

It's been four long years. The last time BTS performed together as a group was at Las Vegas's Allegiant Stadium on April 16, 2022 — and since then, every member has served in South Korea's mandatory military service, released solo projects, topped global charts, and made us all feel every ounce of that absence. Now, with the stunning album ARIRANG dropping on March 20, 2026, and their world tour kicking off on April 9 in Goyang, South Korea, the wait is finally, gloriously over.

BTS's sixth world tour isn't just a comeback — it's a statement. Named after a beloved traditional Korean folk song that has echoed through the country's history for centuries, Arirang positions the group's return as something deeply rooted yet powerfully global. And the reception has been nothing short of seismic.

The opening night that broke the internet

When BTS took the stage at Goyang Stadium on April 9, the world watched — literally. More than four million viewers tuned into the Weverse livestream, with some reports placing the number even higher. The 2.5-hour show covered 23 songs in a meticulously crafted two-act format, featuring an enormous 360-degree stage setup with multiple catwalks, walls of flame, pyrotechnics, and thousands of LED lights.

The production opened with the new album's explosive "Hooligan" and never looked back. Nearly every track from ARIRANG was performed live, with nine album songs woven into the setlist alongside beloved career-spanning throwbacks. And in a touching move, the group introduced two rotating "surprise song" slots each night — meaning no two shows are the same, and fans never know which classic gem might surface.

What makes this tour different

Beyond the emotional weight of a long-awaited reunion, the Arirang World Tour sets itself apart through sheer scale and technical ambition. The 360-degree stage — a first for BTS at this scale — means no fan gets the "back of house" experience. The production design puts members at the center of a massive immersive environment, with catwalks extending deep into the crowd and visuals that wrap the entire stadium.

Bloomberg had already called it "their largest world tour to date" back in October 2025, and that was before the additional North American dates were added. The final count surpasses 85 shows across 23 countries — dwarfing the Permission to Dance on Stage tour's 22-city run.
